Things are coming together for the wedding in three weeks, but we still haven’t figured out the red wines! We’re having a pig roast with mac & cheese + veggie sides, so Andrew and I decided to conduct some market research (we are the target market here, so that part is easy!) pairing a few potential wines with our own barbecue feast. We picked up pork shoulder and barbecue sauces from Pig Beach (highly recommend, yum!), mac & cheese from Whole Foods (also highly recommend), and I made green beans, collards, and elote.
This whole process worked well a few weeks ago for picking a white wine, but sadly nothing we tasted this time really blew us away. So instead, we’re thinking of my favorite, “stripe wine,” Perlita Malbec Syrah, plus maybe a Pinot Noir as well for contrast. I’ll let you know what we decide! We’ve started watching The Great Courses Everyday Guide to Wine on Kanopy (an AMAZING new movie streaming service, free if you’re a NY Public Library member) so soon we expect to be total expert tasters. SO I guess then whatever we choose for the wedding will be exactly right, and I can stop worrying about it. Phew.
