I love lists. Especially the ones like Elle Decor‘s “12 Things I Can’t Live Without”—curated (have I ever mentioned how much I hate that word?) collections of material things/experiences/favorites that help define a person. Which is a little consumerist/suspect if you think about it, but I just love them. A LOT! Being that it was my birthday this weekend and I felt that I could really laze about without remorse, this seemed like the best time for a list post as opposed to a recipe post. SO, in case any of you have been wondering, here are a few of my favorite food things. For in between the times when I’m cooking.
Every morning without fail. With organic whole milk and unsweetened almond milk mixed together.
The most delicious, amazing yogurt EVER. With probably most of your saturated fat quota for the day.
Evolution Fresh Essential Greens with Lime
I don’t often spend $5 on a green juice, but when I do, it’s usually this one.
Yes, I like dark chocolate too, but I’ll take good milk chocolate over it any day.
The gooiest of the gooey cheeses.
The longer you let it steep, the spicier it gets.
Diamandes Perlita Malbec-Syrah
Inky, full-bodied wine with gold and stripes on the label. (I really love stripes.) Around $12. Amazing.
In the evenings after dinner, I love having any combination of the following: popcorn (organic, popped in oil on the stovetop), a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie (we keep a batch of Martha Stewart’s recipe in logs in the freezer and break off pieces to bake fresh in the toaster oven), Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky (or another selection from the small whisky/Scotch library), and/or (more likely than the Scotch) ginger tea.
