I recently read an article about the idea that trying one new thing per week can make you a happier person. After the stress of this first week of what may be a long political nightmare, I was ready for some extra happiness, so I tried two new things: sending letters to my state senators and using the broiler in my oven. Amazing that I had gone my entire life without doing either of these things! You know, I think it actually did work—I really do feel a bit happier. Onward and upward.
Grapefruit Brûlée
- 2 pink grapefruits
- 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
- pinch cinnamon
- Preheat the broiler. Cut grapefruits in half and place, cut-side up, on a baking sheet. Sprinkle each half evenly with 1 Tbsp sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.
- Place grapefruit halves under the broiler, checking frequently, until sugar begins to caramelize and brown, about 8 minutes.
