Campari + gin + sweet vermouth + orange peel = the negroni, a pretty darn perfect drink. Negroni Week, a charity campaign and celebration of the ubiquitous cocktail, just ended yesterday, so I’ve had negronis on the brain but I was also ready for a variation. The pink grapefruit juice plays off of the bitterness of the Campari and the rosemary enhances its herbal-ness. Plus, this cocktail is super refreshing, but the grapefruit and rosemary would work well in winter too. A drink for all seasons! A side note: cocktails are really hard to photograph. To shoot this one, I premixed everything and then poured it through a funnel to avoid splashing the sides of the glass. The ice cubes went in one by one, and then snap, snap, snap, trying to stay ahead of the condensation. I’m seriously considering ordering some fake ice cubes for the future. What fun! (Not sarcasm, actually!)
