I’m on vacation this weeeeeek! Here’s how you make bacon-wrapped dates (otherwise known as BWDs). They’e been a longtime staple in our household—hope you enjoy!
Bacon-Wrapped Dates
- 12 Medjool dates, pitted
- 6 slices of thin bacon, cut in half crosswise
serves 4 as an appetizer
- Preheat the oven to 350°. Wrap each date in a half-slice of bacon, and place them on a baking sheet. If the bacon won’t stay put, use a toothpick to hold it in place. Bake dates, turning every 10 minutes, until bacon is crisp. This can take anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes.
- Remove dates from oven and transfer to a paper towel–lined plate and allow to cool for 10 minutes. The dates will be very hot, so letting them cool is important—don’t eat them right away!
Note: To make these in your toaster oven, set the heat to 375º or 400º instead of 350º.
