We’ve been living in Boston for a little over two months now, and while I still don’t feel completely settled in yet, I have been having fun trying new restaurants and exploring New England. Here are a few fun restaurants/destinations we’ve enjoyed so far!
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
This gorgeous museum is just as much about the architecture and decor as it is about the art itself. The courtyard is stunning!
Fast, cheap, and delicious Indian food in Cambridge, open late. It’s a classic dinner stop after hearing music at the Lily Pad.
This new Somerville food hall has a bunch of tasty options as well as a brewery and a natural wine bar. We tried the pizza (decent) and roast beef sandwich (amazing) from Hot Box and beer for Andrew + switchel for me from Remnant Brewing.
The best ice cream in Boston! The rotating flavors always include the incredible burnt caramel, but make sure to also try the gingersnap molasses if they have it.
This fun and cheap diner is right down the street from our apartment. One egg, coffee, hash browns, toast, and bacon or sausage is just over five dollars. We haven’t tried the meatloaf omelet yet . . . maybe next time??
Handmade udon noodles three ways: cold, spicy cold, or hot. We got the spicy cold and they were worth the 45-minute wait. There’s an option for extra noodles, which you probably won’t need (we think it’s meant for the college students who make up the majority of the crowd there), because the regular portion was very filling.
This was our favorite dim sum place when we lived in Boston six years ago, and it’s still really good. They have all of the typical dim sum options you might expect, and all that we’ve tried has been delish.
A beautiful area for an autumn hike, with a variety of trails + a lake.
This enormous arboretum is just a few blocks away from our apartment and is our go-to running/walking spot. So gorgeous, and I’m still finding new trails there.
A new food hall featuring outposts of some of Boston’s trendiest restaurants, including Saltie Girl, Union Square Donuts, and more. Trillium Brewing and a movie theater are right next door.
I have a whole slew of additional places to try on my list, so I’ll report back as we visit them. Tonight we’re celebrating Andrew’s birthday with pizza at an outpost of the famous New Haven pizza place Frank Pepe’s! Work has been a bit wild recently, but I hope to be back with a new recipe to share with you next week. See you then!
